As I was growing up, my favorite TV show was Cheers. I think the thing that really connected with me was the camaraderie between the characters and how much that they all cared for one another.

With that being said, Kel and I moved to Galway, NY in 1998 about a year and a half after we were married. We came to Galway not knowing a single person. One of the first nights that we were here, we went down to the Cock ‘n Bull restaurant. And so it began… We found our second home and our second family. We found our Cheers.

As many of you know, Rick had the restaurant’s 40th birthday party yesterday. It was fantastic to get so many people that have been part of the restaurant all together at the same time. As I sat here today, I got thinking about how much that Rick and his family and that restaurant mean to me, Kel, and so many other people.

We have seen people get married there. We have said good-bye to dear friends there. We have slept there when our power was out. We have showered there when our well went dry and when our pipes froze. We have gathered there to console one another during difficult times. We’ve met some of the best friends that we ever have had there. And we have spent countless hours there celebrating how great life can be.

I just want Rick to know how much that this all means to me (us). You, your family, and the Bull are an irreplaceable part of our lives. You have given and done so much for us all over the years.

What a pleasant surprise! We were visiting from RI and spent the weekend at the race track in Saratoga, but decided to stay in Galway to get away from some of the madness. To avoid the crowds of race day, we decided to stay local for dinner, and we were not disappointed with the Cock ‘n Bull! We looked over their expansive food and drink menu, with some questions, and our waitress Ashley was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I opted for one of their local beers on tap, my father joined me, and the rest of the party had wine – lots of options. Ashley gave us some insight on the specials and favorites, and gave us the rundown of their homemade salad dressings. Homemade dressings seems like such a minor thing to mention, but they were out of this world great!! All of our food was superb – mozzarella sticks, salads, shrimp dishes, wings, everything. One special mention goes to their French onion soup!! One of the best, if not the best, I’ve ever had. I cannot say enough great things about this place and my words will not paint a perfect picture, just trust me and go. If you’re lucky enough to have Ashley as a waitress, you’re guaranteed superior, genuinely friendly, and knowledgeable service! We’ll be sure to stop by next time we’re in the area.
