The Universal Fire

How fortunate are we, to be able to host some of the most incredibly talented musicians…

At some level it feels a bit like seeing a kid grow.  They learn some fundamentals, develop a skill set, try out some new material, personalize it, and maybe adapt it to their own environment.  Watching (hearing) a song climb out of its infancy and morph into maturity is much like being in the presence of a gifted painter,  just observing the process.  I’m fortunate enough to have been around some of Jeffrey Foucault’s newest material since its formative days.  Snippets.  Unplugged.  Glimpses. Candid.  His album The Universal Fire was released to the world this week past and I’ve had it on repeat as a soundtrack through the farm towns of Schoharie, Schenectady, Saratoga and Fulton Counties. It’s good.  It’s really good.  It’s grown up, strong, mature and developed.  It’s taking flight this week as Foucault and his crew tour New England.  They’re out in the world, testing the transmission in this intricate machine called the music industry.  By some stroke of fortune they’ll be plugging in and turning up under clear skies, on a patio, behind an old barn just outside the smallest incorporated village in New York State this Wednesday evening.  My recommendation to all who hunger for real deal, heartland of America, gritty, deep, soulful rock ‘n roll to come on out.  There is not a music venue I’ve been to that sounds better. There is not a band I’ve heard with more thunder and grace. These songs are ready to be shared.
